The Benefits of Waterproofing your Pool Deck

With summer right around the corner, there is no doubt that you are ready to get the most out of your pool and deck during the warm weather. If your pool is expected to be receiving heavy use and your pool deck has not been properly waterproofed, this can cause water erosion and mold. Water can slowly seep into the wood of your deck, which can cause cracking, splitting, or even warping. If you live in a humid climate, the moisture in the air will contribute to the water that can seep into your deck. In addition, it is not enough to simply waterproof your deck one time. You must re-coat your deck every few years or so, which varies slightly based on the type of coating used. Depending on the use and the type of climate you live in, your deck may even need to be re-coated more often.

It is important to understand the benefits of waterproofing your pool deck to make sure that it is a top priority when it comes to caring for your home. First, you will prevent any type of visible damage, such warping or cracking. Instead, you can keep your deck looking new for years to come. Second, waterproofing will prevent mold from growing within the wood, which will not only cause damage to the deck, but can be harmful to you as well. Finally, the main benefit will be lower costs, since you will only have to pay for maintenance as opposed to paying to repair or completely replace your deck. Protect your investment by properly waterproofing your pool deck!
