When you build a deck, you have to also consider how the deck will be decorated and how this will affect the overall look and feel of the deck. One easy way to change the entire look of your outdoor space is through simply adding deck accents. This easy addition to your patio or deck will go a long way in shaking things up. Adding deck accents is a perfect way to make it seem like you’ve completely remodeled a deck when you have only made small changes! One easy way to change the look of your deck is going for a rustic style. Known as a casual country look, rustic elements are as easy as finding various elements from garage sales, flea markets or salvage yards. If you find old pieces of furniture from tables and chairs to stools, they can look vintage or like antiques. The best way to play up old pieces of furniture is by adding pops of color with potted flowers of various and bright flowers. It is also a good idea to stick to a similar color schemed when it comes to potted flowers so it does not get too overwhelming to the eyes. If your outdoor deck or patio is covered, a nice addition can be to hang vintage bird cages or lanterns. These can easily be found at an antique store or flea market. If they look old and rusted, it’s perfect for your rustic style deck! Another fun idea is adding a piece of old furniture such as a nightstand or even a small drawer. Open up the drawers and use them as a place to put potted plants or herbs such as oregano, basil leaves or mint! When it comes to the rustic style, creativity is the name of the game. Whatever old pieces you can salvage from a flea market for example, you will likely find ways to use it as a decoration for your deck.
