Winter is here and the cooler weather comes right along with it. If you are the proud owner of a beautiful outdoor deck, you may be thinking that you can only get use out of this part of your home during the warmer months of spring and summer. In fact, there’s actually plenty of activities that you can take part in right on your deck during the winter months. Here are some outdoor deck ideas for the holidays.

The first thing you’re going to want to do is get your deck ready for the holidays. This means sprucing up your deck with holiday-themed decorations. If you have a fence or wall around your deck, you can add some garland or even some Christmas lights. You can also add other holiday decorations such as wreaths, Christmas bows, and other fun holiday inspired decorations. If you have furniture on your deck, as many people do, you can also add a holiday touch to it. Holiday pillows, covers, and blankets are a great way to add holiday spirit to your furniture. Finally, you can add some holiday plants to finish off the look. Poinsettias are always a great holiday choice, or you can even go further and opt for a small Christmas tree.

While it does start to get cold in Southern California during the holidays, the weather is still generally good enough to hang out outside, especially during the day. This means that your deck can be a great spot to host a gathering. You can host a holiday party or even a holiday-themed potluck while enjoying the great California weather. Not to mention, you’re sure to receive compliments on your beautifully decorated deck.

If you’re ready to take your party into the night, then a bonfire is a great way to do this while keeping everyone warm. Look for a size that is small enough to still give you and your guests plenty of room on the deck, but also large enough to keep everyone warm. Hand out some blankets if it’s chilly and you’re all set

Be sure to use these tips to get the most out of your deck during the holidays!
