The Dangers of Mold & Mildew

When we think of outdoor decks, you often think of barbeques, party and warm days spent relaxing on the deck. However, mold and mildew dangers to health are serious concerns that occur if your deck is not properly maintained. One of the best way to prevent any health issues is through waterproof deck paint and to ensure that your deck is properly waterproofed every few years.


If your deck isn’t properly waterproofed, being exposed to water can cause mold and mildew to grow. When around mold, it can cause throat irritation, nasal stuffiness, coughing and wheezing, eye irritation and even skin irritation. If you have allergies to mold, even more serious reactions can occur. In fact, there has also been a direct correlation found between the high presence of mold in households and depression. Mold can be found inside and outside your home, which is why it’s important to waterproof both inside and outside your room. It is common to have areas of your home such as the basement waterproofed as this is a prime area for mold and mildew to grow. However, it’s also important to get the outside of your waterproofed as well, including your outdoor deck. One way to help keep your family be safe and healthy is to ensure your home and deck is waterproofed to help prevent the growth of mold.
