If you are getting work done on your house are thinking about fixing up the garage, consider an epoxy coating for your garage floor. There are many benefits of having an epoxy garage floor and in the long run is better than a simple concrete floor that you will find in many garages today. Here are just some advantages of adding epoxy coating to the floor of your garage.

In case you’re wondering, epoxy is a thermosetting resin that is used as a coating; it is not paint. Paints used for garage floors are usually a latex acrylic product that eventually chips away and is not very durable. Epoxy on the other hand has a much thicker finish than paint and tenaciously bonds to a surface. Since it is so durable, you don’t have to worry about dropping tools or other heavy items on the ground because it will not damage the surface. In addition, epoxy coatings are also chemical and stain resistant making it perfect for garages. Are there are any stains from oil, gasoline, brake fluids, antifreeze, or other chemicals on your garage floor? With an epoxy coating, you don’t have to worry about these types of stains as they can be easily wiped away, even if it sits there for a while!

Another way that epoxy coatings are superior to concrete floors is that it is anti-dusting. Whether or not you are aware of it, much of the dust that is in your garage is created from the powder that cement floors often shed. Just with normal traffic in your garage, this dust can be kicked up where it lands on the various items in your garage. If you live in a cold climate where you see snow in the winter months, this is also a great product for you because the material that epoxy is made from is naturally resistant to moisture. This makes stains from road salts and icy brines easy to wipe away. These are just a few of the reasons why you should consider getting epoxy flooring for your garage.
